Gradings
Gradings are the practical exams we go through to get our next coloured belt. We have to wait a minimum of 3 months between each one and I hope to tell you all you need to know about gradings here...
KUGB Grading Rules. A few important things to know about Gradings, straight from the KUGB! Or download the PDF here.
Grading Syllabus. The maximum you can be asked to do on your gradings
Grading Checklist. Make sure you have all these things before you go for your grading.
Check the Grading Syllabus. If you know all the stuff for your grade, you will be OK. But remember, the syllabus is the maximum you will be asked. In your actual grading, you may be asked to perform things from previous gradings, so don't be suprised if your grading is slightly different.
You must have a valid and in date KUGB licence (little red book). Check the slip of paper inside to see when the expiry date is. If yours is out of date, ask Sensei or Sarah for a Licence Form. Give at least a week for the Licence to come back. You must bring your Licence with you to the grading.
If anyone turns up with a dirty or crumpled Gi, they will be gently grabbed by the scruff of the neck and hurled out of the nearest door!!
It is very easy to forget to eat and drink. Don't have a 3 course meal beforehand, but make sure you have something to recharge your batteries.
Probably the most important thing! If Sensei does not say you are grading, then you are not grading.
If you remember these points, you will not go far wrong. Just remember to try harder than anyone else on the floor, and whatever happens, you will be proud of yourself, and I will be proud of you!
